Boclair Care Home and Kirktonholme Nursery Build Bonds

Children visiting residents

At Boclair Care Home, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with our local nursery - Kirktonholme Nursery - as we launch a heart-warming intergenerational project that’s already sparking smiles, stories, and plenty of muddy boots!

The initiative brings together young children and our residents for regular shared activities focused on gardening, sustainability, and most importantly - connection. With visits alternating weekly each month, this thoughtful schedule ensures that every child gets the chance to join in and form meaningful relationships with our residents.

From planting seeds and creating garden spaces to learning about the environment - both at the nursery and within our home - the project is helping to build bonds that span generations. There’s something truly special about watching the young and old share laughter, experiences, and a sense of purpose - whether it’s over a flower pot or a watering can.

Beyond the joy it brings, the project supports the wellbeing of everyone involved. Staying active through light gardening helps our residents maintain mobility and balance, which plays a vital role in reducing the risk of falls. But just as important are the emotional benefits - companionship, conversation, and the feeling of being needed and valued.

At Boclair Care Home in Bearsden, we believe in creating meaningful experiences that enrich daily life - whether through innovative projects like this one or our wide range of engaging activities. If you're looking for a care home where community connections, wellbeing, and personalised care come together, we’d love to welcome you for a visit.
