Celebrating 100 Years of McVitie’s with Tea, Biscuits and Big Smiles!

At Boclair Care Home, we love any excuse to put the kettle on and enjoy a biscuit or two, and the 100-year anniversary of McVitie’s was the perfect reason to do just that!

To mark the special occasion, we received some fantastic biscuit hampers packed with McVitie’s classics. From chocolate digestives and rich teas to hobnobs and ginger nuts, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We turned the day into a full-blown celebration, complete with a biscuit-themed quiz and, of course, plenty of tea to go around.

Residents had a brilliant time sampling each biscuit while chatting about their favourites and sharing fond memories of family tea times and home baking. Our fun quiz tested everyone's knowledge on all things biscuit-related, from famous McVitie’s adverts to quirky facts about Britain’s love for dunking. The room was filled with laughter, nostalgia and a touch of friendly competition.

Of course, the big debate of the day was: which biscuit pairs best with a cuppa? Opinions were strong. Some residents championed the timeless digestive, while others backed the crunch of a hobnob or the sweetness of a custard cream. Chocolate lovers, as always, had their own favourites too.

This simple but joyful afternoon was about more than just biscuits. It brought everyone together in a relaxed, friendly setting and gave us the chance to celebrate something familiar and well-loved. It’s moments like these - filled with connection, comfort and conversation - that really reflect life at Boclair Care Home.

We’re always looking for ways to create meaningful and enjoyable experiences for our residents, whether it’s through special events, arts and crafts, music sessions, or simply sharing a quiet chat over a cup of tea.
